Our Story

Who's Tammy?

A question we get asked almost every day. Tammy is the founder of Tammy's Cool Things. She started out selling her wares at the Amish Market and would travel to various outdoor events as well. She then opened her first brick and mortar location on Route 50 in Easton back in 2009. But after some issues with the town and the neighbors, she moved down to our current location in beautiful Trappe, on the other side of 50, in the beginning of 2012.

This spot allowed us to grow in so many ways. We separated our inventory into two buildings so that we had a space where we could isolate the smoking accessories away from our everyday items. That way only those of legal age had access to that side and the front building was open to people of all ages. The new location allowed us to start hosting our outdoor event which started as "Tammystock" and eventually became what is now "Hippie Halloween".

Hippie Halloween is an event where we have local artists, crafters, musicians and more, set up and spend the day. Whether they are performing a set on our small barn stage, selling their wares, or blowing glass, we have a variety of things for people to see and experience. We also have a local foodtruck that sets up for the day. And finally, we give away over 50 prizes from inside our store to our raffle winners who we announce throughout  the day. The day is certainly memorable and attracts many locals and visitors every year.

So, we've moved on down to our new location in Trappe in February of 2012 and have remained there since. Then towards the end of 2015, Tammy was ready to retire and start living a slower pace of life. At the same time, her two step-children, Daniel and Erica (that's me) had returned home after living overseas for the past 3 years with Ting. Ting, a Taiwanese native, was visiting America for the first time. At the beginning of 2016, Daniel and Ting got married and were ready to start a new life here in America.

Tammy saw this as an opportunity to pass her business onto the next generation in order to grow what she had created. So in March of 2016 Daniel, Ting and I embarked on this new business venture and purchased Tammy's Cool Things from our stepmom, Tammy.

While Tammy is no longer involved in the business, we kept the name because after so many years, everyone has heard or knows of Tammy's Cool Things. With our isolated location and colorful painted VW Hippie Van, we are hard to miss when traveling down route 50, no matter your direction. We are proud to keep the name and keep the hippie, funky, fun vibe that Tammy always loved. Her style was always unique and we love finding unique and cool items for you all to see still to this day!
